“The key to the mystery of a great artist is that for reasons unknown, he will give away his energies and his life just to make sure that one note follows another…and leaves us with the feeling that something is right in the world." Leonard Bernstein
For more than forty years, “Arlington’s Chorus” has been giving away its energies and life to touch the hearts of people locally, nationally, and internationally with the gift of extraordinary vocal music. Exciting performance venues have included Bass Performance Hall, Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Vatican, and European cathedrals. Our music has filled lives with laughter, inspiration, reflection, and nostalgia. The audiences have been entertained with the words and music of PDQ Bach; inspired by the music and lyrics of Spirituals by American composer, songwriter, arranger, choral conductor, and actor, Jester Hairston; and have experienced the tragedy and healing of broken and aching hearts by a 10th anniversary 9/11 memorial service. Through the weaving of audio and visual mediums, the Chorus has transported its audience to new vistas that touch the heart, mind, and soul. By the universal language of music, the Chorus continues to enrich the lives of its listeners whatever language they understand.
Each of the 100 artists, whether by vocation or avocation, expresses their love of music vocally and endeavors to interpret the composer’s message. The artistic director is renowned in his musical vocation for studying, teaching, nurturing, and conducting vocalists and orchestras so the Chorus and its audience can experience music from any era. The Chorus encourages and embraces younger voices who are beginning their life’s journey of music as well as seasoned musicians who have offered their talents for many years.
If you have a heart and love for music, we encourage you to experience the exciting musical journey with us by contacting our director and auditioning to join the Arlington Master Chorale.
